Essential Ingredients of Victory: Saints vs. Chargers

The good news is that there are several starters – including right tackle Cesar Ruiz, tight end Taysom Hill, linebacker Pete Werner, left tackle Lucas Patrick and offensive lineman Chris Olave. -He will return to the New Orleans Saints (2-5) lineup to face the Chargers (3-3) on Sunday at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif.

This isn’t a guarantee that the Saints will end their five-game losing streak, but it will be a significant factor if it does. These few items will also help:

1. GRINDING ON THE FLOOR

New Orleans rushed for 46, 81 and 97 yards on 15, 21 and 21 carries, respectively, in the previous three games. This is partly due to the attack playing from the back, but part of the reason for playing from the back is that they have not been able to run the ball effectively. Alvin Kamara totaled 76 yards on 31 carries in three games; Hill’s return would be a huge boost for Kamara and the offense, including rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler. Getting Ruiz and Patrick back could help settle the interior of the offensive line because opposing receivers spent so much time in New Orleans’ offensive backfield.

2. VALUABLE CARGO

Rattler must do his part by protecting the ball. He has two interceptions and two turnovers in his two starts, and it’s hard to win when the quarterback gives the opponent extra possessions. New Orleans needs the rookie to learn from his mistakes, but he won’t have to be so confident in his hero now that he’ll have some returners as well. Olave’s existence must bear fruit.
