It has been confirmed that an 80-year-old woman, identified as Mariam Salako, died in the fire that broke out in Ifelodun Agoka area of ​​Abeokuta.

Spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, said the fire occurred at around 1 am on Saturday.

Odutola noted that the woman living in the building lost her life, and Baba Ali, whose age has not yet been determined, was rescued from the window by community members.

He stated that the cause of the fire is not yet known and the fire was brought under control with the rapid intervention of the Ogun State Fire Brigade.

“Around 1am, a distress call was made regarding a burning building in Ago Ka No. 28 Ifelodun area of ​​Abeokuta.

While the fire brigade was called for assistance, the Regional Commander immediately directed a police team to the scene. The Ogun State Fire Service responded quickly and managed to bring the fire under control.

Unfortunately, an elderly woman named Mariam Salako, 80, living in the building, could not escape and died in the fire.

Odutola stated that the body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue.
