City of Coventryconflict with Luton The city was temporarily suspended after a man was seen flying over the stadium in the closing stages of a thrilling Championship match.

Haji Wright headed home a last-gasp winner after Mark Robins’ home side came from two goals down to earn a thrilling 3-2 win, but a paragliding daredevil was briefly thrust into the West Midlands spotlight.

Loud cheers and whistles were heard around the stadium as the man in question hovered over the pitch at the Coventry Building Society Arena with around ten minutes left in normal time.

The match had to be paused when the mysterious person went over the stands and out of sight. Sky Sports‘ Cameras before referee Bobby Madley blows his whistle to signal for play to continue.

Coventry had managed just two wins before their victory over Luton and the result saw the Robins’ men leapfrog the visitors into 19th place in the table.

Luton, meanwhile, find themselves stranded in 19th place following the defeat and could be dragged into the relegation zone if results go against them this weekend.

Rob Edwards’ side managed just 12 points in the league last season after being relegated from the Premier League.

“I don’t care how they get in, as long as they get in,” Coventry striker Wright told Sky Sports when asked about the sloppy winning goal.

‘It was an important goal for us, we worked for 90 minutes to score a goal like this and it’s fantastic that it happened like this.

‘I think our play in the first half gave us some confidence.

‘We knew we were creating opportunities and it was only a matter of time before we got the chance.’

Wright is confident Coventry are starting to “gel” and get back on their feet after a difficult start to the 2024/25 season.

‘This is frustrating. “We still have a lot of new players and our team is quite young, so we are still trying to find that balance and the perfect tempo to play,” he added.

‘We’re still finding our feet a bit but today was a great day for us.’

A pessimistic Edwards criticized Luton’s poor defending in the match but took full responsibility for the manner in which his team was defeated.

‘There were so many moments where we were open, giving them the shine of a set piece. “The problem is ours, it’s my responsibility,” the Luton head coach said shortly after the final whistle.

‘It’s 2-1 and then the crowd really gets behind them, even more intensely. We tried to implement changes early to make an impact, but ultimately we didn’t defend well enough.

‘It will belong entirely to me. ‘You can’t lose the game 3-2 when you’re leading 2-0.’
