Parole Escaping Fresno County Deputies Run Red Light in Sierra and Severely Crash Lexus SUV

October 26, 2024 – Fresno County Sheriff’s Office officials report that at 8:32 p.m. Friday, a deputy attempted a traffic stop on a car near Shields and Hughes. The driver refused to pull over and sped away. It made several turns at moderate speeds in Fruit and Gettysburg area neighborhoods. At one point he ejected a passenger and continued toward Shaw and then north of Palm at higher speeds. At 9:46 p.m., he ran a red light and collided with the front end of a Lexus SUV heading east on Sierra. The suspect lost control, crashed into a fire hydrant, hit a utility pole and downed a tree before his vehicle pulled up to Palm.

Deputies were able to extract the suspect from his car and arrested him. The person was taken to the hospital for treatment and will later be sent to prison. His name is unknown at this time, but we know he is currently on parole.

The man and woman in the Lexus managed to escape the crash with minor pain.

The intersection remained closed for hours.
