WHAT’S ABOUT IT?

A magical season turned Indiana into college football’s biggest surprise. A win on Saturday would put the 1967 Rose Bowl team off to the best start in school history and keep the Hoosiers atop the Big Ten standings as they chase a playoff berth. It’s been a difficult season for the Huskies, who replaced 21 of the 22 players from last year’s national runner-up.

KEY MATCH

Washington WR Denzel in game two against Boston, Indiana. The Huskies lost their top three receivers from 2023 to the NFL, giving the 6-foot-1, 209-pound Boston room to showcase his talents. While his 40 receptions and 540 yards may not seem gaudy, he leads the Big Ten and ranks second nationally with his nine TD catches. He will pose a different type of challenge for the nation’s 30th-ranked pass defense.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Washington: CB Thaddeus Dixon. The Los Angeles prep star’s game tape shows his versatility. At 6-foot-1, he can match up with taller receivers and enters Week 9 with 19 tackles, 1/2 tackles for loss, an interception and a team-high six pass breakups. Testing it could be dangerous.

Indiana: QB Tayven Jackson. The third-year player has been a fan favorite since transferring to his in-state school from Tennessee. Although he struggled last year, he looked very comfortable relieving Kurtis Rourke, who was injured in the second half last week. With Rourke out of the week (right thumb surgery), it’s up to Jackson to keep the Hoosiers’ perfect mark intact.
