The woman was found seriously injured on the roadside as a Garda investigation was launched.

Gardaí launched an investigation after a seriously injured woman was found on the side of the road.

The woman, in her 20s, was found by gardaí on Tom Bellew Avenue in Dundalk, Co Louth, on Friday evening.

He was traveling on an e-scooter and gardaí believe an incident occurred at around 9.30pm.

The woman, whose injuries are believed to be serious, was taken from the scene and taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for treatment.

The scene is currently preserved for review.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.

A spokesman said: “Any road users or pedestrians who were in the area between 9.15pm and 9.45pm and have camera footage (including dashcam) are asked to provide this.

“Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Dundalk Garda Station on (042) 9388400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.”
