Man arrested after officer-involved shooting in Ardmore

ARDMORE, Oklahoma (KXII) – Ardmore police release new details about an incident police involved in shooting at a gas station on Thursday afternoon.

According to the department, officers pulled over a vehicle with a passenger named Joshua Estrada, who had an outstanding warrant.

Police said Estrada gave them a fake ID and when officers noticed this, they asked him to get out of the vehicle.

Estrada allegedly made a comment to an officer implying he would harm them to avoid arrest, and as officers attempted to arrest him, police say he made an open gesture toward the officers.

Meanwhile, the officers fired several shots towards him.

He was taken to Extraordinary State Hospital in Ardmore, where he was treated and released a short time later.

While the driver of the vehicle and the officers were not injured, the officers were placed on routine administrative leave.

Agents with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation later arrested Estrada for terroristic threats, possession of a controlled substance and an outstanding warrant.
