5 superheroes visit Driscoll Children’s Hospital

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The window washing experts at Driscoll Children’s Hospital (DHC) shook things up a bit while doing their job. Instead of going up to the seventh floor just to wipe away the dirt like other days, the window washers wore superhero costumes to make the kids smile.

DHC patient Javier Chavez was happy and emotional as he watched his favorite superheroes in action.

“Which one is your favourite?” KRIS 6 News reporter Tony Jaramillo said.

“Spider-Man,” Chavez said.

“That’s very convenient, isn’t it, since Spider-Man climbs on things?” said Jaramillo.

“Yes!” said Chavez.

KRIS 6 News was able to catch up with Spider-Man and the rest of the team before they got back to fighting crime and saving the world.

“You do this to look around you and appreciate that you share the smiles and joy for the children,” Spider-Man said.

“Give them that extra push they may need to overcome the obstacles they face. And at the end of the day, that’s what makes it all worth it,” Captain America said.

“To be honest, I almost cried. “Just by looking at them, waving at us, making them smile and happy,” Batman said.

But Batman wanted everyone to know that they were not real heroes.

Batman said, “The real heroes of the hospital are doctors, nurses and cleaners.”

But Chavez had a message he wanted to convey to his superheroes.

“Thank you. It’s so much fun for the children receiving treatment. For the smiles and happiness,” he said.
