Will the Halloween weather in Arizona be a treat or a treat?

PHOENIX (AZ Family) — There’s a saying about hot weather in Arizona: “Wait until Halloween, then it starts to get cold.” Although this rule is not necessarily followed every year, it is pretty close this year!

A big cool down will arrive next week, bringing a fall-like night of trick-or-treating.

Halloween evening across Arizona will be much cooler than the past few evenings. Temperatures in Phoenix will likely climb into the upper 70s around 5 p.m., then drop into the low 70s around 8 p.m.

Of course, temperatures will be cooler at some higher elevations, like Prescott, likely in the 50s during trick-or-treating season. If you go late at night in Prescott, those 50s will turn into the 40s, then possibly the 30s!

It was a hot Halloween in 1988 where the temperature was 96 degrees! In 1900 the low dropped to 36, which must have caused some pumpkins to be near frost. There were some wet and soggy Jack-O-Lanterns in Phoenix in 1957 when over 1 inch of rain fell.
