Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk: “The EU would not be complete without Serbia”

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić during his visit to Belgrade on Thursday.

During the talks held in the Serbian capital, the two discussed Serbia’s progress towards European Union membership.

“You know that I am more skeptical than realistic, but they opened up some new perspectives and some new hopes that can be expected in the future; I am not saying acceleration, but I would say that there is a kind of different relationship, as well as what is necessary. Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Vučić summarized the details of the talks.

Standing next to Vučić, Tusk said: “The European Union would not be complete without Serbia.” he said.

Tusk said, “We are aware of Serbia’s ambitious plans for growth in order to accelerate its European path. For Poland, it is important to strengthen bilateral relations with Serbia, especially economic relations.” he said.

The Polish prime minister also expressed that he has a better understanding of Serbia’s position after a long and open discussion and is confident that their talks will lead to greater cooperation between Serbia, the EU and Poland.
