Costco recalls seafood over Listeria concerns

Acme Smoked Fish released a voluntary recall Select packages of Kirkland Smoke Salmon are being sold “out of an abundance of caution,” according to a notice sent to Costco members who purchased the products. The recall is limited to packages marked Lot number 8512801270.

Anyone who purchased the product is asked not to eat it and return it to Costco for a full refund.

Products sold at Costco was reminded last week Listeria concerns included the ReadyWise 110 Serve Emergency Protein Bucket, Red’s Southwest Grilled Chicken Mini Burritos, and a 10-batch El Monterey Mexican Grilled Chicken and Cheese Taquito.

The previous week, Costco announced the recall of Rana Chicken Truffle Carbonara and Tagliatelle Grilled White Chicken and Portobello Mushroom Sauce for the same reason.

Some of the recalls were linked to the recent incident BrucePac recall Approximately 12 million pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products due to Listeria concerns.

MAJOR RETAILERS AND SCHOOLS AFFECTED BY BRUCEPAC MEAT RECALL

The recall was initiated by the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), an agency of the USDA, after the products tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes during routine product testing.

An FSIS investigation later determined that BrucePac RTE chicken was the source of bacteria that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, the frail or elderly, and those with weakened immune systems.

Costco usually contacts customers who purchased a recalled product. Only items with specific expiration dates or batch codes are affected.
