Not only has LG started showing screen saver ads on its new 2024 TVs, but it’s also rolled them out to older models via a sneaky software update. Flat PanelsHD saw the ads appear on TVs as long ago as 2020, and it appears users were not warned about the addition before updating their TVs to the latest software.

Fortunately, you can turn them off (at least for now), but that option is somehow buried inside the menus. To find it, go to: Settings > General > Additional Settings and click ‘Screensaver Promotion’. You can see Alastair Stevenson’s option in the photo above (Which HiFi? Editor-in-Chief) C2.
