Grantham’s Dysart Road works must be finished by Christmas

Speaking at the time, council leader Tim Harrison, who also runs a taxi firm, said his drivers had seen “a 45% drop in weekly earnings”.

“It’s crippling the town, it’s crippling businesses. It’s hitting everyone very hard financially,” Mr Harrison said.

In response, Mr Davies said Dysart Road urgently needed repairs, adding: “It doesn’t make sense to postpone or delay this.”

Now, the councilor said the project is “on track to be completed before Christmas this year”.

“As we move into fall and winter, we need the weather to cooperate with us so it stays as dry as possible,” he said.

“We have had some pretty heavy rain over the past few weeks which luckily hasn’t delayed either project, but as we get closer to the end of both schemes we will need dry weather to be able to lay the foundations and the final layer of asphalt which cannot be laid when wet.

“I would like to thank everyone for their patience while both works were carried out. We will continue to do our best to keep disruption to a minimum.”
