Bear Hare End Enters Set Early After Scrap Between Vocalist’s Wife and Sound Engineer

Actually, this was not a topic I expected to write about today. New York post-hardcore band The Bunny the Bear were performing at the Hell Over Midway festival on Saturday (October 26) when they suddenly had to close their set a few songs early. Apparently the sound engineer for the night got a little excited with vocalist Matthew Tybor’s wife and the incident then escalated. Why can’t anyone get along these days?

Following the pollination, Tybor clarified more about the events of the night in his social media post. Since his wife was in the middle of this mess, of course he pulled the cord early to ruin everything, said the grumpy bastard, who then shifted his efforts to attacking the festival’s event organizer Mel with a mic stand. Shortly thereafter, the sound engineer was arrested on assault charges and outstanding warrants. Come on now, buddy. Put it together!

Tybor’s article is as follows:

“Okay. I’m sorry we couldn’t finish the last two songs of our set in Chicago tonight.

“You will know that I am a changed man. I AM RETIRED FROM DRAMA and just trying to enjoy my family, music and LIFE.

“BUT. The truth is that tonight… the… sound guy… in Chicago… came on stage… during our set… and berated/attacked MY WIFE…

“This will never fly.

“I stopped the set immediately. It would be 10 times more.

“I will always defend my family. I handled the situation properly. And that’s what happened.

“The same sound man started hitting the female organizer in the head with a microphone stand and was subsequently arrested for assault and outstanding warrant.

“I want to clarify that we came here to have a fun night with you. This wasn’t planned. I’m sorry we had to end the set abruptly. But I had to take care of this nonsense.”

“I will NEVER let bs like this slide.

“Thank you so much to The Convalescence, Casket Robbery, 9 Dead, Fight From Within and all the bands playing tonight. You were amazing.

“And I appreciate that Magoos stands by our decision to handle things the way we need to.

“And a big thank you to Mel for getting a microphone stand instead of a head. He stands up for us.

“Chicago, we’ll be back soon.

“As you can see…we still had fun.”
