Fight breaks out at Withington Stadium, ends Jackson High football game

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – A fight broke out at Withington Stadium during the Jackson high schools football game against Haslett on Friday night, according to Jackson Public Schools.

Jackson Public Schools Assistant Superintendent of Communications Kriss Giannetti said in a statement Friday night that the fight started inside the stadium around 9:15 p.m. and then moved outside of the stadium.

While the fight was ongoing, shelter protocols were initiated in the stadium. As both teams left the field, the fans accompanied them to the northern part of the stadium. Officers from the Jackson Police Department secured the area, but the game did not continue.

All spectators and teams left the stadium. Haslett won the match 42-24. The high school football playoffs will begin next week.
