Toronto man faces murder charges in fatal stabbing at Scarborough public housing complex – CP24

Police and paramedics identified a person injured with a knife. He was later pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Toronto man faces second-degree murder charge after shooting fatal stabbing at a social housing apartment in Scarborough early Thursday morning.

Police were called to the Toronto Community Housing (TCHC) building on Lawrence Avenue east of Kingston Road just after 6 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found an adult male inside the apartment who had been stabbed, police said. Despite rescue efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a press release issued Friday, police identified the victim as 43-year-old Toronto resident Jason Hines.

He became the city’s 75th homicide victim this year.

Although the circumstances leading up to the stabbing are unclear, police said a man and two women were arrested. Officer speaking to reporters at the scene. Investigator Todd Jocko said all parties knew each other, although the nature of their relationship was unknown.

Police say 55-year-old Michael Currie of Toronto has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the stabbing.

The other two women were released without charge, police told CTV News Toronto in an email.

It’s unclear whether Currie or Hines lived in the building.
