A man is dead after a road rage shooting in Glen Burnie Thursday night, authorities said.

Police said around 8:20 p.m., Nov. 7, officers responded to a call of shots fired in the area of ​​Furnace Branch Road and Margate Drive in Glen Burnie.

Upon arrival, officers said they found an adult male victim, approximately 51 years old, on the ground and an adult male suspect, approximately 23 years old, at the scene.

The fire brigade intervened and despite all efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigation indicates the shooting stemmed from a traffic accident on Route 10, according to authorities.

Police said the suspect and victim were stopped on Furnace Branch Road and Margate Drive.

The victim appears to have come at the suspect with a hammer, according to authorities, but police say they are still working out the details.

Police said the suspect was taken into custody and transported to the Anne Arundel County criminal investigation division for questioning.

The investigation continues.
