Minnesota Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell is going viral for the encouraging message he gave to Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson on Thursday.

O’Connell, with a microphone, offered some words of encouragement to Richardson at the end of Sunday’s game between the Vikings and Colts. O’Connell encouraged Richardson, who was recently benched, to continue working hard and made it clear that many people still firmly believe in the second-year quarterback.

“Do me a favor and remember something. You’re a bad guy and you’re going to play in this league for a long time,” O’Connell told Richardson. “Go to work every day. Good things are going to happen for you. I still believe in you. I know those guys do. And so does Shane (Steichen). The organization loves you, go to work.”

Richardson struggled and was benched by the Colts after Week 8 when Joe Flacco took over. As mediocre as these numbers are, no one doubts the second-year quarterback’s physical abilities. O’Connell is right that there are still plenty of believers in Richardson as a point guard Reported to attract significant commercial interest before the deadline.

Before moving to the bench this season, Richardson had completed just 44.4 percent of his passes, making four goals and seven interceptions.
