Domestic violence incident led to officer-involved shooting

Two people were injured following an officer-involved shooting stemming from a domestic violence incident in South Omaha.

Although the police are investigating the incident, they are considering the possibility that the woman may have been kept in a closet against her will.

Officers responded to a domestic violence call around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. South 43rd and Frances Street.

Police said when they arrived at the scene they heard gunshots and a woman screaming from a closet. OPD officers “immediately opened the closet door” and two fired shots, according to a report.

It was learned that the woman’s life was not in danger after she was taken to the hospital. The man is in hospital with extremely critical injuries.
