Police say woman is in critical condition and 2 other people were shot after election-related argument

MIAMI (WFOR) – Police are searching for the person who shot three women after an election-related argument at a Miami apartment complex.

Police said the attack happened early Wednesday morning at a Miami apartment complex. A group of people drinking alcohol then started arguing about the election. At that moment, someone walked towards a vehicle, pulled out a gun and started shooting.

Police said three women in their late 20s to early 30s were shot, one of whom was hospitalized in critical condition with a stomach injury. The other two victims are in stable condition.

“This is something that concerns us,” Miami Police spokesman Mike Vega said. “There is no place for violence in politics, especially due to difference of opinion.”

Neighbor Suly Ashe said she woke up at 12:25 a.m. when she heard gunshots.

“I heard someone screaming and I didn’t want to open the door and risk myself. “It felt like four shots were fired,” he said. “This is terrible. Whoever is president now is president for all of us, whether we are Democrats or Republicans. It’s not important. This is our country. “It’s very sad that this happened.”

Investigators are continuing their efforts to determine the suspect’s name.

“This is not acceptable. We need to address our differences and respect each other’s beliefs. We need to either come to an agreement or avoid such topics,” Vega said.

Miami Police are asking anyone with information to contact them or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers.
