Florida woman faces murder charge after livestream of deadly shooting, police say

A woman is behind bars charged with murder after investigators say a deadly fight was livestreamed on social media and shook the neighborhood.

Sanford Police say Savon Shante Tyler opened fire on Lauren Martin during a violent argument that was livestreamed on Facebook. Currently charged with murder, Tyler is being held in the Seminole County jail.

A shooting near Mike Kirby Park late Tuesday night has residents on edge.

“My husband and I were watching the election news and we heard this; we thought it was just the glass door slamming,” said neighbor Valerie David, who reported hearing gunshots.

Martin arrived at Tyler’s home, where they confronted him outside, both armed with guns, according to police.

“Scene investigation revealed a medium-sized pool of blood in the roadway, a blue children’s miniature baseball bat, a black wig and a shoe,” a police report stated.

While the cause of the clash remains unclear, police confirmed the incident was livestreamed on Facebook.

“We didn’t even realize there was gunfire,” David added. “When we went to walk the dog, we saw that everything was roped off. It’s very scary, especially for young children; it makes me think twice about staying here.”

Tyler is being held without bail and faces a first-degree murder charge. Police said the woman confessed to firing the fatal shot.
