Loop 1604 at Blanco Road will be closed for construction this weekend

SAN ANTONIO – Get ready for more traffic congestion on the North Side this weekend.

The main eastbound and westbound lanes of Loop 1604 at Blanco Road will be closed, TxDOT said in a news release. Additionally, both directions of Blanco Road will be closed at the Loop 1604 intersection.

Closures are planned from 21:00 on Friday, November 8 until 05:00 on Monday, November 11, depending on weather conditions. During this time, crews will demolish the original Blanco Road bridge across Loop 1604. New bridge opened to traffic last weekend.

Once work is completed on Monday, drivers will continue to use the new Blanco Road bridge to cross the Loop 1604 interchange. Teams will continue the remaining improvement works at the intersection.

Access to businesses will remain open during construction and law enforcement will assist with traffic flow at intersections. TxDOT said the closures could be opened early if the work is completed and the road is safe for motorists.

Below is the detour information for traffic:

Loop 1604 eastbound and westbound main lanes

Travelers in the Loop 1604 EB or WB main lanes will exit via the Blanco Road exit ramp and continue through the frontage lanes, then may re-enter the EB or WB main lanes via the Blanco Road entrance ramp.

Blanco Road heading north

Travelers using Blanco Road NB will take the Loop 1604 EB frontage road to the return route at Stone Oak Parkway. Traffic will continue in the Loop 1604 WB frontage lanes toward Blanco Road NB.

Blanco Road southbound

Travelers on Blanco Road SB will take the Loop 1604 WB frontage road to the return route at Huebner Road. Traffic will continue from the Loop 1604 EB frontage lanes to Blanco Road SB.
