Tipster helps Glendale police find suspect who stole truck, trailer

GLENDALE, AZ (AZfamily) — An anonymous tipster helped Glendale detectives track down the man they say stole a pickup truck and trailer worth $30,000 from a church.

Edward Charles Gouer Jr. was arrested Tuesday afternoon, police said.

According to court documents, the 44-year-old man stole a Ford F-250 along with a 24-foot box trailer. Church in Arrowhead On the night of October 26.

Church staff discovered the trailer missing the next morning.

The trailer included items used by the church, such as chairs and ATVs.

Investigators said the truck was worth about $20,000 and the trailer was worth $10,000.

Surveillance video shows someone in a Chevy Blazer getting out, checking to see if the truck is attached to the trailer, and returning to the Blazer. The truck, which police say belongs to Gouer, is then driven away.

Surveillance video was released to the media, and police said Tuesday that an anonymous caller told officers he believed the Blazer belonged to Gouer and had a Tonopah address.

Police went to the home and found the Blazer, Ford F-250 and box trailer. But when officers returned with a search warrant, the truck was gone.

Officers later arrested Gouer in Arlington, about 15 miles west of Buckeye.

Police said during an interview, Gouer told officers he didn’t know the trailer was stolen and then asked for an attorney.

He was imprisoned twice for theft of transportation vehicles.

Court documents stated that he was on probation after being convicted of dealing in stolen property.
