KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Man charged in Kansas City, Missouri for shooting and killing another man While checking out a vacant house in the city’s Historic Northeast.

Myloe Doan, 21, is charged with second-degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon in the death of William C. Wright.

On June 2, police responded to an intersection near E. 9th Street and Van Brunt Boulevard for a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers found Wright suffering from a gunshot wound. He died at the scene.

During the investigation, detectives spoke with a nearby homeowner who said his cameras recorded the incident.

Investigators reviewed surveillance footage that showed a dark-colored Dodge Durango stopping in front of a home in the area, according to court documents.

A man, later identified as Doan, was seen getting out of the vehicle, heading towards the front of the house and taking photos with his phone.

Doan disappears from the camera’s view for a few minutes but is later seen chasing Wright.

Detectives later obtained a search warrant for Wright’s belongings. They found two BB guns near the stairs at the back of the house.

They also spoke with a neighbor who said the owners had moved out of the house Doan controlled. They also said Doan frequently checked on the house and drove a Dodge Durango.

According to the neighbor, Doan had encountered homeless people living inside the house many times before.

Detectives linked the Dodge Durango to Doan and also used cellphone records to determine he was in the area at the time of the murder, according to court documents.
