Tulsa mother’s EBT card depleted due to fraud ‘They’re all gone’

We’re hearing from a Tulsa mom who says her EBT card was compromised during the card skimming scene NewsChannel8 reported.

The Oklahoma Department of Human Services issued an alert on this issue late last month.

Emily, a mother from Tulsa, said she is trying to make memories with her children and family on Halloween.

“I bought some pizza dough, sauce and cheese because we went to my sister’s house for Halloween and thought it would be more fun and cheaper to make our own pizza for the kids before we went out on Halloween,” she said.

It was the last time he used his EBT card. Then she went to the grocery store over the weekend and learned that her benefits had been reloaded for November.

“He was completely lost,” Emily said.

That’s when he realized he was a victim of the infamous SNAP benefit card skimming scam. He noticed the accusations coming from New York.

Last week, News Channel 8 reported that OKDHS said in October that 10,000 Oklahomans had fallen victim to this scam and that they were investigating the matter.

“We’re doing everything we can to find the suspects. This is an international organized crime ring that moves from one state to another and constantly puts these filters on these devices. This is a big money scheme.”Mike Adams, Law Enforcement Agent V, Oklahoma Office of Inspector General Humane said the Services Office.

As DHS figures out how to stop criminals, it is encouraging food stamp recipients to download the “ConnectEBT” app, lock their cards and change their PINs after each use.

Emily said she hasn’t been refunded yet, but she’s reminding others to be careful with skimmers.
