Monica Mosely murder: New Jersey detective another suspect charged in Cumberland County home invasion murder

BRIDGETON, New Jersey (WPVI) — Another suspect was accused of killing a detective at his home in Cumberland County, New Jersey.

Byron Thomas, 35, of Paulsboro, was arrested over the weekend and charged with murder.

According to court documents, Thomas, along with three other men, shot and killed Detective Sergeant Monica Mosley during a home invasion in Bridgeton.

Them The suspects were previously identified as Jared Brown, 31, of Bridgeton; Nyshawn Mutcherson, 29, of Vineland; and Richard Willis, 32, of Gloucester City.

The fifth suspect, Cyndia Pimentel, 38, of Paulsboro, is charged with tampering with evidence.

The murder was committed on October 15 in the 600 block of Buckshutem Road in Bridgeton.

According to court documents obtained by Action News, the suspects broke into Mosley’s home around 10:30 p.m. and shot him.

Authorities said the detective was able to shoot Mutcherson, who later arrived at Inspira Medical Center, before he died from his injuries.

The reason for the murder was not disclosed.

Mosley was the mother of two daughters and also a grandmother.
