Polling places in the Bay Area closed due to fire concerns

OAKLAND, CaliforniaSome voters were turned away at a Bay Area polling location due to rising fire concerns.

The voting center at Oakland’s Joaquin Miller Park on Sanborn Drive was closed Tuesday amid a Red Flag warning.

“All voters will be directed to Vote Center 72 at Montera Middle School, located at 5555 Ascot Drive.” Alameda County Registrar of Voters in question.

Those who wanted to drop off their ballots were directed to a nearby drop box at Woodminster Market, located at 5000 Woodminster Lane in Oakland.

The polling place closure was as follows: PG&E has been notified It is stated that 20,000 customers in 17 districts may experience a power outage due to the strong winds and dry conditions expected this week.

In the Bay Area, there were two polling places in the affected outage area.

PG&E said if power goes out on Election Day, it won’t happen until 9:30 p.m., after the polls close.

The National Weather Service issued a statement Red Flag Warning 11 a.m. Tuesday through 7 a.m. Thursday morning for most of the Bay Area

The agency said “critical fire weather conditions are likely or imminent.” These conditions include strong winds, low humidity and dry brush.
