Investigators say 5 teenage siblings were seriously injured in warehouse explosion

BAGLEY, Min. (KVLY/Gray News) – Five teenage boys injured in an explosion at their Minnesota home are in critical condition.

The Bagley community comes together to support five siblings, ages 6 to 14.

A. GoFundMe A charity created to help cover medical expenses has raised nearly $34,000 as of Tuesday.

A family member who started the fundraiser said the children were in critical condition and were airlifted to a burn unit in Hennepin County.

He said the children’s condition was stable. However, burns range from 5% to 55% of their body. A surgeon informed the family that all boys would need surgery at some point in their recovery.

The Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an explosion and fire at a storage unit north of Bagley around 12:30 a.m. Monday.

Investigators determined that a propane tank had leaked inside the metal storage unit and that the explosion occurred after a man lit a cigarette.

First responders said the man was also injured but did not provide further information about his condition.

The Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office was called to the scene to investigate.
