Ohio State Buckeye Earns Player of the Week Award for Performance Against Penn State

Ohio State BuckeyesLed by a strong defensive effort, they were able to knock them out. Penn State Nittany Lions 10, 20-13. On the way in weeks.

One of the key contributors to the defensive performance was veteran cornerback Davison Igbinosun, who was recently named the Bronko Nagurksi National Defensive Player of the Week.

The former Ole Miss star allowed three receptions on five targets for 42 total yards, giving him a season-high in scoring. PFF coverage rating 76.5. Igbinosun was also responsible for the touchdown-saving interception late in the second quarter that gave the Buckeyes a 14-10 lead at halftime.

While the defense has struggled at times this season, the young cornerback has allowed a 56.3 completion percentage when targeted this season, according to PFF. Igbinosun, which has important names in the squad, often gets lost in the conflict. But the last matchup against Penn State caught the attention of many NFL draft analysts.

Both Igbinosun and cornerback Denzel Burke were considered two prospects for the 2025 NFL Draft. While it is estimated that Burke will be elected at the end of the first day and early on the second day, Igbinosun may fall on the third day. However, there’s still a chance that the former freshman All-American could stay in Columbus for one more season to improve his draft stock, according to College Football News.

The Buckeyes will need Igbinosun to continue his exciting play throughout the remainder of the season, as Ohio State is scheduled to play Indiana and Michigan in the final two games of the regular season.
