A truck driver involved in a late-night crash on Saturday that killed four people and injured 17 was taken to hospital with serious injuries on Monday.

The crash closed part of Interstate 96 for more than a day. The accident occurred around 23:40 on Saturday in the village of Webberville, 42 kilometers from Lansing. Michigan State Police had just reopened Interstate 96, which was closed while DTE Energy crews installed power lines along the road. He said the following in his statement about X.

Multiple vehicles were stopped on the road when police say a westbound tractor trailer struck multiple vehicles. Police said the truck driver did not see the stopped vehicles and failed to stop before hitting them.

The accident caused the truck and many vehicles to catch fire. Police announced that 15 vehicles were involved in the accident.

17 seriously injured people were taken to local hospitals. The driver, whose name was not disclosed by the police, was injured and taken to the hospital.
