Turn AP into a hub for AI: CM

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu emphasized the need for reforms in the technology sector in AP in line with the changing times. Speaking at a review meeting at the Secretariat on Tuesday, he outlined plans to transform EP into a hub for Artificial Intelligence (AI) by introducing changes to various policies.

Chief Secretary Neerabh Prasad, minister Janardhan Reddy and others discussed policies related to IT, drone manufacturing and semiconductor industries.

Naidu suggested that Ananthapur be introduced as a destination for drone manufacturing companies. He directed the officials to focus on developing Sri City into a semiconductor hub that could significantly contribute to the economic diversification and technological advancement of the state.

The Chief Minister suggested that Visakhapatnam be developed as the IT capital of the state in order to improve its status in the technology landscape.

These initiatives reflect the government’s proactive approach to leverage technological advances and put AP on the global map as a leader in the technology industry, officials said.

Later, the CM said in a social media post: “Today, I gave directions for three key policies to be introduced soon by the state government: AP Semiconductor Fab 4.0 (2024-29), AP Data Center Policy 4.0. (2024-29) and AP Drone Policy, the goal of the latter was determined at the Amaravati Drone Summit.

“The semiconductor policy aims to attract investment in fabs, OSAT, ATMP and compound semiconductor sectors to create a self-sustaining ecosystem. “The Data Center Policy targets 200mw of additional capacity, positioning AP as a hub for AI-enabled data centers and data embassies.”

“We aim to create a thriving ecosystem for deep technology innovation and growth and these policies are an important milestone in this direction,” Naidu concluded.
