Police say woman died while crossing Route 109 in West Babylon

A woman was killed after being struck by a car while crossing Route 109 in West Babylon early Tuesday morning, Suffolk police said.

The crash occurred around 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of Route 109 and Old Farmingdale Road, and police said the victim’s eastbound 2009 Nissan Altima was struck by a vehicle whose driver remained at the scene. The name of the victim has not been disclosed, news of his relatives is awaited.

The driver was not injured in the crash and no criminal charges were filed.

The crash closed Route 109 in both directions near the crash, police said. The road was later reopened.

First Team detectives are asking anyone with information to call them at 631-854-8152.
