The Paradise boy, who gathered a community around him and won the hearts of many, died at the age of 11.

“We Are Team Jake Forever Now. Jake passed away peacefully at 8:01 a.m. on November 2nd. He left this world lying in bed with his mother holding him and his brother holding his hand,” said his mother, Lisa Loveless-Hodder. . Facebook on Sunday afternoon.

Jacob Anstey had a heart attack In January. His heart stopped for more than 10 minutes and the lack of oxygen led to his overall brain damage. He was released after months in hospital but needed a wheelchair.

When Jacob came home, his family encountered more problems. Finding accessible transportation proved to be a struggle.

In response, in September two local businesses – Get Messy NL and Bursey’s Bus Service – came together to form a partnership. donate an accessible minibus to the family.

Jacob’s obituary reads: “From his first breath, Jake faced many challenges and bravely faced them and overcame many obstacles. Jake had a tremendous will to live and the life he lived was joyful, courageous and determined.”
