Call of Duty pros have high hopes for Black Ops 6 despite a major flaw

Jacob Hale

Following the release of Black Ops 6, Dexerto contacted a number of professional Call of Duty players to ask their initial thoughts on the game and how it would play as a competitive game. While many enjoyed BO6, especially the gunplay and constant movement, there was one major problem that almost every pro pointed out: holding the game back.

Every year a new COD game comes out and the competitive scene continues to move on to the new game, regardless of how much they liked or disliked the previous game.

It was seen as a system that could keep Call of Duty e-sports behind, especially when games like Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 3 were so popular, but being able to change every game in opposite years was seen as a great advantage. About 12 months.

While Modern Warfare 3 brought back the classic maps and weapons players know and love, Black Ops 6 had to find new ways to invite players into the fun.

Fortunately, most professional players say the game feels great. Charlie ‘Hicksy’ Hicks explained, “The gameplay and gunplay are pretty good,” while Dan ‘Ghosty’ Rothe echoed this sentiment, adding that the game’s “action, gunplay, and overall flow” were great.

But one issue that resonated with every response was maps. “Other than the maps, everything feels great,” said Ghosty, adding that he “can’t really tell which maps are ready” for competitive play.

“This is the worst map pool we’ve ever had at launch,” said one player who preferred to remain anonymous.

Another suggested that remastered maps from past COD games could be the solution: “It’s all going to come down to the map pool… I feel like they should bring in some remastered maps soon, that’ll save us.”

Remastered maps have become the norm in recent Call of Duty games, and there are certainly some great ones out there. Black Ops series maps that can and should be remastered for BO6.

Each response stated that maps were too serious a problem to ignore, and some players expressed their fears quite honestly about the potential Call of Duty League map pool for this season.

OpTic’s 2024 world title duo Brandon ‘Dashy’ Otell and Anthony ‘Shotzzy’ Cuevas-Castro are already Check out “dogs**t” BO6 maps and also said that the game needed remastered maps to make things better, especially from Black Ops 3 and 4.

But the problem is that we don’t know when or if the remastered maps will arrive. Season 1 starts on November 14However, there is no indication yet that the classic map will return in this update or future updates.

In fact, we saw three maps coming in Season 1 – although there’s a suggestion that more could be coming – and none of them are remasters.

At the time of writing, there has been no official announcement regarding the start date of the CDL 2025 season, but many sources have stated that it will start in early December and the announcement will come on November 12.

Players are all clearly very excited about the game itself, and many told us how much they enjoyed the overall game despite the poor map options; but it will be interesting to see which maps make the cut come decision time.
