As many people on social media pointed out, Time Interruption is almost identical to another horror movie that came out on Amazon last year, Total Killer. Inside Total Killer, Kiernan Shipka played the time-traveling final girl who travels back in time to the ’80s to save her mother from the “Sweet Sixteen” serial killer. Inside Time InterruptionMadison Bailey plays the final girl, who travels back in time to 2003 to save her sister from the “Sweetly Slasher” serial killer. There are even similar serial killer names!

However, in defense of director Hannah MacPherson, who co-wrote the script with Michael Kennedy, he said: Time Interruption Filming was completed by 2022, well before its release. Total Killer. Unfortunately, Netflix kept the movie on the shelf for almost two years!

Like most movies about time travel, Time Interruption It gets confusing at times. This is where Decider can help. Time Interruption scenario summary:

The movie opens on the night of April 18, 2003. Summer Field (played by Antonia Gentry) attends a high school party at a barn just days after her close friends Emmy, Brian, and Val are murdered by a serial killer. And they still couldn’t catch the man! While Summer’s ex-boyfriend Ethan (Samuel Braun) just wants to get back to normal, Summer doesn’t want to be alone. That’s why he’s going to his party. Unfortunately, the masked killer comes to the party and kills Summer as well.

We moved forward 21 years to 2024. Summer’s parents had another daughter, Lucy (Madison Bailey), who lived her entire life in the shadow of the late sister she never knew. On the anniversary of her sister’s death, Lucy and her family visit the memorial in the barn where Summer died. Lucy comes across a time machine in the barn and is transported back to 2003, two days before her sister’s death. Cue Hilary Duff!

Lucy befriends Quinn (Griffin Gluck), a school science nerd who is trained in time travel and believes that Lucy is from the future. It’s also obvious that he has a crush on Summer. However, he warns Lucy that he cannot change anything in the past lest it create a devastating ripple effect. But Lucy is still trying to save the killer’s first two victims, Brian and Val. He’s not successful, and now his sister wants to know how he knew something bad was going to happen. Lucy confesses that she is from the future and is Summer’s sister. Summer doesn’t believe it at first, but is convinced when Lucy gives Lucy an old breakup note from “E” that she found in Summer’s room. Lucy assumes it’s from Ethan.

Summer convinces Lucy and Quinn to work together to save the killer’s next victim, Summer’s best friend Emmy (Megan Best). They successfully rescue her, and Lucy realizes that the past can be changed without devastating consequences. He also realizes that Summer’s note is from Emmy, not Ethan. Summer confirms this is true: He and Emmy were dating and were about to come out to their parents as gay. But Summer was afraid.

Lucy decides to save Summer even though it means she will likely never be born. (Her parents tell her they don’t want another child, confirming that Lucy was born to replace Summer.) She, Quinn, and Summer come up with a plan to eliminate the killer, save Summer’s life, and send her away. Lucy returns to 2024.

Time Interruption The ending was announced:

Lucy and Quinn break into the town’s local high-tech laboratory to obtain the part they need for the time machine. Once inside, they discover that the killer has already gone to the laboratory and taken the role they need; So the killer is from the future, just like Lucy. This explains why there’s a time machine there!

Summer goes to the party where she will be killed and lures the killer to that barn. Lucy and Quinn crash into the barn and hit the killer with the car. But he’s not dead yet! When the killer stands up, his mask comes off and his identity is revealed.

Who is the killer inside Time Interruption On Netflix?

The killer’s mask falls and he… Griffin Gluck with his old make-up! AKA, Quinn from the future! Come on, you saw it coming, didn’t you? He’s the only one who knows anything about time travel!

Summer, Lucy, and the present-day Quinn return to the garage where the time machine is stored. Future-Quinn follows them and explains how it got so bad. In the timeline—in other words, the one where Lucy didn’t travel to the past—she was thrown into the river by bullies while Summer watched. (In this timeline, Quinn was saved by Lucy, who stood up to the bullies.) Future-Quinn says he gave Summer a card confessing his love to her and told her he would never love her that way because she was a lesbian. . That’s why future Quinn dedicates his life to building a time machine, traveling to the past, killing Summer’s friends, and then killing Summer.

Why did future Quinn spare the guy who bullied the most? So were his friends killed when he gave Summer that card confessing his feelings? Or is it because he hasn’t gone back in time to kill them yet? Maybe there are actually three different Quinn timelines? It’s all very confusing and not explained very well.

Anyway. Lucy activates the time machine and both she and the future Quinn are sent to 2024. They fight and Lucy wins. For example he Really wins; the would-be stabs Quinn multiple times. He is dead! Spring!

In 2003, Summer and Quinn lament the loss of Lucy, whom they assume is gone. But apparently time travel doesn’t work that way in this universe. Lucy is not gone and uses the time machine to go back completely to 2003. Lucy explains that yes, Summer is alive in 2024 and her parents don’t know who Lucy is. So he decided to go back to 2003 and spend his life with his sister. And we can assume that this version of Quinn won’t grow up to be a killer. The film ends with Lucy and Summer arguing over who the “big” sibling is.

Does it make sense? Not exactly. As with most time travel movies, I recommend not thinking too much about it. Timey-wimey things are complicated because time travel isn’t real. Just go with it!
