Shakib’s bowling action is under the spotlight!

Shakib Al Hasan has been playing international cricket for 17 years and has an even longer professional career.

During this long period, the experienced all-rounder has represented Bangladesh as well as competing in almost every major franchise league across the world.

Known primarily for his bowling, Shakib’s left-arm spin has earned him numerous records.

But his bowling action has now come under scrutiny; It is truly a surprising development.

During his stint in the England County Championship, Shakib’s bowling action was questioned, marking the first time such an issue had arisen in his career. According to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official, the district officials expressed concern about the bowling efficiency of the Bangladesh all-rounder and Shakib was informed about the issue.

He is expected to be tested at an English laboratory soon.

This raises the question of whether this was the reason why Shakib did not play in the series against Afghanistan in Dubai. However, there is no connection between his absence from this series and the concerns raised about his bowling action.

This issue only affects his participation in the State Championship. Even if there is questionable bowling action, Shakib is free to continue playing international cricket and other domestic leagues; because he only needs to pass the action test to play in English domestic cricket or county matches.

A BCB official said, “We have not received any official information regarding this issue. Since this is not an international level issue, it is not very important for us to know. However, we have heard about it. Shakib’s bowling action has been questioned.” In the County Championship, but this only applies to domestic cricket in England.

Shakib is aware of the situation and is likely to undergo testing soon. “This does not affect his eligibility for international or other domestic cricket.”

Shakib went on to play county cricket in England after competing in the Test series in India last September. On his return to county cricket nearly 13 years later, he played one match for Surrey, where he took four wickets in the first innings and five in the second, making a total of 63.2 overs – the most by a Surrey bowler in a match against Somerset. This was the match where his bowling action was questioned.

Shakib recently spent an extended period abroad. He briefly returned to Bangladesh after playing in the T20 World Cup last June, then moved to the United States to play in Major League Cricket (MLC).

He later captained the Bengali Tigers Mississauga team in Canada’s Global T20 league. Following this, Shakib played a Test series in Pakistan and joined the Bangladesh squad in India for another Test series before returning to the USA.

Although he expressed interest in playing his final Test in Mirpur, concerns for his personal safety prevented him from returning to Bangladesh.
