Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Aamer Farooq on Monday expressed concern over the law and order situation in Islamabad, the federal capital, following the rescue of Pakistan’s kidnapped lawyer Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and Intezar Panjutha. He compared it to Karachi. .

Panjutha was found distressed and tied inside a car in Attock on Saturday night, days after she disappeared from the federal capital. The alleged kidnappers escaped after being caught by the police and exposed to intense fire, leaving behind their vehicles, including the lawyer.

Additional attorney general of Pakistan (AAGP) and lawyer Ali Bukhari appeared before the IHC for a follow-up session on Panjutha’s disappearance and recovery.

Bukhari informed the court that he received a call from the inspector general of police regarding the successful rescue of Panjutha.

Expressing his concern that anyone could face similar situations, the lawyer said, “I took Intezar Panjutha from Kohsar Police Station. His condition was bad.”

CJ Farooq pointed out that a civilized society should have freedom of expression. He directed the additional AGP to investigate the increasing cases of missing persons.

“There is a similar situation in Islamabad to Karachi. People I know personally are being blackmailed,” Justice said.

He said the law and order situation in the federal capital was very bad and urged the authorities to do something about it.

CJ Farooq then instructed the police to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter after a few days, keeping in mind Panjutha’s current state of mind.

Justice Farooq added that even if we consider this case as a simple kidnapping for ransom, such incidents must be stopped.

Additional AGP said that the lawyer was saved due to the efforts of AGP Mansoor Usman Awan but the issue was highlighted in a negative manner.

On this, CJ Farooq said that AGP Awan is a law officer and is making efforts. He added that there should be no negative campaign against him.

An application was made to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to find the former prime minister’s lawyer Panjutha, who has been missing since October 8.

The kidnapped lawyer revealed that after he was found, he was taken from Islamabad for a ransom worth Rs 20 million and was subjected to severe torture by his kidnappers.
