One person injured after a road rage incident in Decatur

DECATUR, Ala. (WAFF) – One person is in the hospital following a roadside shooting in Decatur Sunday morning, authorities said.

According to the Decatur Police Department, the incident occurred around 1:09 a.m. after officers were dispatched to a report of a shooting near the 1800 block of 6th Avenue SE.

Authorities said that after police teams arrived at the scene, they found that a motorcycle driver was injured with an apparent gunshot wound.

The motorcyclist was transported to UAB Hospital. His condition remains critical.

Police said a second person was at the scene and was detained for questioning regarding the incident.

During the investigation, police determined that both men were traveling southbound on 6th Avenue SE and were involved in an apparent road rage incident.

No arrests have been made at this time.

The investigation of the incident continues.
