A fire broke out in an empty restaurant

The Yarmouth Fire Department reportedly battled a large fire Sunday night at a long-vacant restaurant on Route 6A in Yarmouth Harbor.

The officer, who declined to give his name, said that the cause of the fire was not yet known. He said the ministry received a call reporting the fire just before 6:30 p.m. Almost three hours later, crews remained at the scene of the fire and further details were not immediately available.

Videos and photos posted on social media showed huge orange flames and clouds of smoke billowing into the sky above the weathered wooden building, as firefighters tracked down and hosed off the remains of the structure.

The building said to be his home Anthony’s Cummaquid Inn The restaurant appears to have been demolished before it closed in 2015, with its windows and roof consumed by flames.

Video published on YouTube by Hyannis News It showed that flames had engulfed the roof of the building and reduced the entryway to ashes, while firefighters tried to open a hose through a hole in the wall to spray water on the flames ahead.

This is breaking news and will be updated as more information becomes available.
