Nikola Jokic’s Former Teammate Made Ridiculous Statements About Himself

The Denver Nuggets have started the season a little slower than they would like, and with the current hamper Jamal Murray (concussion protocol) injury it may take a little longer than expected for things to get back into full swing.

However, none of the current disruptions the Nuggets have thrown their way have hindered the performance of current MVP Nikola Jokic. MVP is currently averaging 29.8 points, 12.3 rebounds, 9.8 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocks per game on an impressive shooting streak of 56/59/81.

That hasn’t stopped critics from voicing their opinions not only about the Nuggets, but also about their star player, Nikola Jokic. In a recent episode of the Offguard Podcast, former 1st round pick Austin Rivers claimed that Karl-Anthony Towns is a better scorer and more talented than Jokic. The statement is even more ridiculous because Rivers played with Jokic and saw firsthand how good he is.

“Karl is a better scorer and better at almost every aspect of the game than Nikola,” Rivers said. “He’s an average shooter, not a good three-point shooter. I didn’t say he was a better player, I already said Nikola was better.” He is the best player in the NBA, but if we are talking about offensive skills, Karl can score more goals. So what can Nikola do better than passing the ball?”

In the 23 games the two centers played against each other, Towns averaged 24 points to Nikola’s 18.9. But none of that matters when Nikola Jokic has three NBA MVPs and one NBA Finals MVP, and Karl-Anthony Towns has made one Western Conference Finals appearance in his career.

Denver Nuggets will face the New York Knicks on November 25 at 21:00 ET.
