Pittsburgh Steelers nearly pulled trade for $72 million WR before injury

Pittsburgh Steelers nearly traded for Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Christian KirkBut the plan was foiled when Kirk suffered a broken collarbone against the Green Bay Packers last week. ESPN’s Adam Schefter said the Steelers and Jaguars are moving forward in talks regarding Kirk, and there’s a reasonable chance the trade could happen if Kirk doesn’t get injured.

Kirk, 27, can play inside or outside in the team’s offense. He signed a four-year, $72 million contract with the Jaguars following the 2022 season and has since become a key part of their attack with Trevor Lawrence. But since his injury, the Jaguars have lost one of their biggest trade chips.

This leaves the Steelers, who are still looking to acquire a wide receiver, in full scramble mode. They’ve made calls on Mike Williams of the New York Jets and Adam Thielen of the Carolina Panthers, but will a move actually be made? That remains to be seen, but the Steelers have two days to make a move as the deadline is Tuesday.
