DELPHI, Ind. — On the twelfth day of a harrowing trial, jurors heard the confessional phone calls of Delphi double murder suspect Richard Allen.

After the speeches made at the hearing, the prosecution rested.

In the calls, you can hear Allen confessing to his wife and mother that he killed Libby German and Abby Williams.

14-year-old Libby and her best friend, 13-year-old Abby Williams, were walking on a hiking trail in rural Delphi on February 13, 2017, when their throats were slit and they were left in the woods. Their bodies were found the next day.

Richard Allen was arrested more than five years later after police said unused bullets at the scene matched Allen’s gun.

Jurors in the double murder trial of Richard Allen in Delphi, Indiana, heard tapes of Allen’s phone conversations with his wife and mother on Thursday.

The girls were found dead, their throats slit, near the Monon High Bridge in February 2017. Allen was arrested more than five years later after police said the unused bullet at the scene matched Allen’s gun.

Testimony given Thursday morning focused on seven phone calls Allen made from prison.

These were recorded by prosecution witness Brian Harshman, a trooper with the Indiana State Police.

Harshman testified that he listened to 700 of Allen’s phone calls and monitored his messages and video chats.

A clinical psychologist said Wednesday that Allen said something surprised him as he allegedly led the girls down the hill. Allen said he forced Abby and Libby into Deer Creek and killed them.

Officer Harshman testified Thursday that he believed Allen was surprised by Brad Weber’s minivan because Weber, who lived near the scene, owned a 2000 Ford Econoline minivan. He said the time it took Weber to get home from work was consistent with the timing of the murders.

Harshman concluded his testimony by telling the jury that after listening and re-listening to Allen’s 700 calls, he believed the voice in the “Bridge Guy” video belonged to Allen.

Defense attorney Brad Rozzi stated that several people, including Brad Weber, are suspected of being the man in the video. He also noted that police never investigated how many pickup trucks were registered in Carroll County at the time.

Each of the interviews in court Thursday included confessions to the murder.

Kathy: “Why did you say that? I know you didn’t. Something’s wrong.”

Richard: “I think I may have lost my mind.”

Kathy: “Are you sure you want to talk to me on the phone?”

Richard: “I want you to know that I did this.”

Kathy: “No, you didn’t. You’re not okay.”

Richard: “I need to know if you still love me.”

Richard: “I may have to spend the rest of my life here. If I’m sentenced to the electric chair or the death penalty, will you be with me? I killed Abby and Libby.”

Kathy: “Yes I did. But you didn’t.”

Richard: “I don’t want to upset you. I’m sorry. I don’t know what I did. I don’t know if I’ve lost my mind.”

Kathy: “Honey, you can’t call me and talk to me like that.”

Richard: “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to do this. Now I’ll have to kill myself.”

Kathy: “You have nothing to do with this.”

Richard:”I already feel like I’m in hell. I don’t understand what’s going on.”

Kathy: “Neither do I.”
