West Texas A&M Buffs pull off a close road win over Texas A&M-Kingsville

KINGSVILLE, Texas (KFDA) – The WTAMU Buffs sneaked a victory over Texas A&M-Kingsville at Javelina Stadium, 21-14.

There was a defensive battle at the beginning of the match and both teams were goalless for 29 minutes. Javelinas’ Lawrence Starks ended the drought with a five-yard score with 0:29 left in the first half.

The Buffs’ first goal was a rather unusual one; It was a punt that bounced off a Javelina and rolled into the end zone where Jamel Acosta-Lewis jumped in to make it 7-7.

Today was a ground and pound game for the Buffs. Quarterback Kanon Gibson led the pack with 16 carries for 79 yards and was 9-of-21 through the air for 183 yards and a touchdown.

Jamaal Joseph is the next leading attacker, allowing 14 shots for 51 goals and what would be the game-winning goal in the final minutes of the game.
