Nets’ Ben Simmons Shows Big Improvement in Win Against Bulls

The Brooklyn Nets came away with a huge 120-112 win against the Chicago Bulls last night. The Nets are currently at .500 with a 3-3 record and are showing legitimate competitiveness to start the season.

Brooklyn, which was expected to be at the bottom of the rankings, played another match that it should not have won. The star of the show was Cam Thomas, who scored 32 points on 11/23 shooting. However, Ben Simmons surprised many people with his performance last night.

Simmons finished the game with 8 points, 8 rebounds, 11 assists and 2 blocks. The former NBA All-Star had a bit of a resurgence last night as he was all over Brooklyn. Even though the score wasn’t very clear, he was shooting 4-of-5 in an effective display of basketball.

There has been a lot of talk about where Simmons would fit into this group. It was clear that Thomas, Dennis Schroder, Dorian Finney-Smith, Cameron Johnson and Nic Claxton had established themselves as starters, but Simmons filled in well as Claxton remained on a minutes restriction and came off the bench.

The Australian forward starts the 2024-25 season with averages of 6.2 points, 6.2 assists and 6.0 rebounds. Once a powerhouse in the league, Simmons was dealing with health issues and turmoil with his last team, the Philadelphia 76ers.

He is still plagued by injuries since being traded to the Nets in 2022, but has become an integral part of the system. New head coach Jordi Fernandez looks to be getting more out of him than scoring goals as the season begins
