NFL Week 9 Fantasy Football Rosters vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Need to Start for Chiefs

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a crucial stretch before their bye week where they will try to beat the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers — and that will be possible without stars Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. This week it was the Chiefs who boasted perhaps the best defense in the NFL.

We at BucsGameday also love fantasy football (who doesn’t), so each week we’ll round up two players on Tampa Bay’s roster you should start… and two players you may want to stay away from. Here are our picks for this week:

TE Cade Otton

Cade Otton was a big part of Tampa Bay’s offensive firepower against the Falcons, hauling in two touchdowns on nine receptions with 81 yards receiving. With Godwin and Evans out, Otton gets a little more load share and could benefit from that again against the Chiefs. You probably don’t have two tight ends on your list, but if you do, take a look at Otton.

RB Bucky Irving

According to head coach Todd Bowles, Irving is currently rehabbing a toe injury that has bothered him for a while, but that shouldn’t be a big deal. He still rushed for 44 yards on nine carries and also worked in the receiving game, catching seven passes for 40 yards. Irving remains Tampa Bay’s top producer at running back, so start him if he’s on your roster.

Tampa Bay Pirates D/ST

Tampa Bay’s defense has given up 1,755 yards of offense (438.4 yards per game) and 16 touchdowns (4.0 yards per game) over the last four games. Yes.

QB Baker Mayfield

Mayfield, meanwhile, has seven interceptions in his last four games. To offset that, he puts up a decent amount of yards and touchdowns, which he generally does well, but he’s probably playing the best defense he’s played all year and those yards and touchdowns may not come so easily. If you have a better option at quarterback, it might be worth exploring.
