Early voting data shows an influx of new men and women in key states

Amid doubts about the accuracy of opinion polls and betting markets to predict the presidential election, another data set may offer new information.

Tens of thousands of Americans have already voted as both parties encourage early voting. Actually, Republicans even broke early voting records after some states rejected it in previous cycles.

While it is not yet known which candidates early voters chose, data on who cast these votes gives clues about the election. According to a NBC News analysisPennsylvania has seen an influx of new Democratic women, while Arizona has seen an influx of Republican men.

In the Keystone State, which is critical to Kamala Harris’ hopes of winning, 33,874 female Democrats who did not vote in 2020 voted early between October 1 and 28. The total for new male Democrats was 21,292.

They outpaced the number of Republicans who voted early in 2020; women were 16,334 and men were 16,679.

Of course, not all Democrats will choose Harris and not all Republicans will choose Donald Trump. Additionally, the number of new voters who have not registered with either party hovers around 8,000 for both men and women, representing a potentially decisive population.

However, NBC points out that the total number of new voters in Pennsylvania who voted early has already reached 100,000, exceeding the margin of victory in that state in 2020, when Joe Biden beat Trump by 80,555 points.

Pop superstar Taylor Swift, who grew up in Pennsylvania, may have something to do with the influx of new female voters. This ignited a spark after he endorsed Harris in September. A nationwide rush to register to vote.

Meanwhile, in Arizona, Republican men lead among new early voters. According to NBC, between October 15 and 28, this demographic cast 19,901 votes. For Republican women, the number was 16,515. The totals for Democratic men and women were 10,487 and 13,533, respectively.

But the number of new early voters who were members of neither party was far greater than in Pennsylvania, creating more uncertainty about Arizona’s final outcome. Male and female Arizonans belonging to this group cast 15,899 and 14,536 ballots, respectively.

In Arizona, like Pennsylvania, the total number of new early voters (about 91,000) far exceeds Biden’s razor-thin margin of victory in 2020 of just 10,457.

A key part of Trump’s campaign strategy is to mobilize low-propensity voters, those who do not frequently participate in elections. This also translated to some Concern among Republican operatives We don’t see many surveyors going door to door. The Harris campaign, by contrast, used a more traditional ground game, with offices covering battleground states and an army of paid staff and volunteers.

Polls are tight in both states. Based on average of 538In Pennsylvania, Harris and Trump are tied with 48 percent of the votes each, while in Arizona, Trump is ahead with 48.8 percent to 46.7 percent.
