10-Year-Old Girl Helps Her Dad Run Detroit Family Restaurant Presley’s Kitchen & Bar (Exclusive)

A Michigan resident gives a new definition to the term “girl boss.”

10-year-old Presley Davis helps her family run their business when she’s not in school Presley’s Kitchen and Bar In downtown Detroit.

“Presley has always been opinionated about our food, service and ambience, which led us to name this beautiful restaurant after him,” Presley’s father, Brandon Davis, told PEOPLE exclusively.

“While my wife and I were working at our kitchen table with Karissa, she jumped in and started offering ideas,” he continued. “When we go out to restaurants now, Presley looks a little bit at the food, service and ambience of other restaurants, for better or worse, and also sees what he can bring to Presley’s.”

Brandon explained that Presley was always willing to help out in the family business, starting with his first family-owned restaurant. Novella’s Pizzeria & Bar (named after Presley’s younger sister).

“I would get there early in the morning before everyone else to turn on the ovens, write the prep list, and do some prep,” Brandon told PEOPLE. “He would always beg me to come and help. Eventually I would bring him with me, have his tables and chairs cleaned, wipe the walls,” she said, adding that she would pay him with homemade cookies.

Brandon then remembered the day he started taking his daughter’s interest in the restaurant business seriously. After a busy parade, Novella’s was “struck”.

“I was helping out in certain areas and Presley started moving tables, cleaning and rearranging tables, and he did a really good job!” he continued. “Then someone gave him a cash tip and he thought he was rich. That’s when he got hooked.”

Stating that Presley only helped when he didn’t have school work, Brandon said he and his wife believed that helping at the restaurant taught their daughter important lessons for the future.

“The best part about helping is that it teaches a valuable work ethic – how to follow (instructions), follow through, and do a good job,” he explained.
