Hong Kong motorcyclist (67) died after colliding with a car in Kowloon

A 67-year-old Hong Kong motorcyclist was killed and his female passenger injured when he collided with a car at an intersection in Kowloon Bay.

At around 11.20am on Saturday, a pedestrian called the police after noticing the man lying on the ground and the driver in the backseat at the intersection of Wang Chiu Road and Kai Cheung Road.

The man was sent to United Christian Hospital in Kwun Tong and was pronounced dead at 11.55am.

The 61-year-old woman was injured and taken to the hospital. The 42-year-old driver of the car also needed medical treatment because he injured his hand.

About two weeks ago, a 22-year-old motorcyclist was killed when he rear-ended a stationary light goods vehicle stopped on the road at Lantau Link.

According to data from transportation authorities, the city recorded 2,800 to 2,900 motorcycle accidents in 2022 and 2023.
