Former President Donald Trump created a new, threatening image while debating former U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney during his speech with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson.

Speaking of the frequently critical former Wyoming congressman, he said: “He’s a radical war hawk. Let’s put him in there with a nine-barreled rifle. OK? Let’s see how he feels about this. You know, when the guns are pointed in his face.”

Trump made these remarks at a rally at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale on Thursday.

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes said Friday that he was investigating the comments as a potentially actionable threat.

Trump campaign National Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt responded to Mayes’ move as a “desperate attempt to help Kamala Harris’ failed campaign.”

The speech touched on what Trump called Cheney’s desire to send US troops to war and the attack on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Cheney, a Republican, was vice chair of the committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot and supported Vice President Kamala Harris in the presidential race.

Cheney replied at X: “This is how dictators destroy free nations. They threaten with death those who speak against them. We cannot entrust our country and our freedom to a narrow-minded, vindictive, cruel, unstable man who wants to be tyrant.”

Former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona was also injured by a potential assassin in 2011. Weight was given to X. “I was shot and nearly killed while serving the people of Arizona. That’s why I’m asking my patriots to reject Trump’s calls for violence and revenge.”

Trump also called Cheney an “idiot.”

He also belittled Harris’ intelligence, using language familiar to those who attended or watched his rallies; Character of 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton; and former national security adviser John Bolton.
