Two people were killed and six others were injured in an overnight shooting in downtown Orlando, according to police.

According to Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith, officers reported shots fired in the area of ​​Central Blvd and Orange Avenue around 1:07 a.m. Friday morning; A second report of shots fired came in a few minutes later in the area of ​​Washington Street and Orange Avenue.

The six injured people were transported to area hospitals for “further treatment” and were listed in stable condition, according to Smith.

Shortly after the shooting, a 17-year-old suspect was located and taken into custody, Smith said. The teen was previously arrested for grand larceny in 2023, Smith said.

“This is still an active investigation. We will provide you with another update as we gather more information,” Smith said at a news conference early Friday morning.
